The Queensland government has committed to introducing pill testing at this year’s Gold Coast schoolies celebration, but the LNP opposition has vowed to scrap the move if it wins power in October.

The health minister, Shannon Fentiman, announced on Thursday morning that the government would spend about $80,000 to provide a pop-up clinic at the annual school-leavers’ event on the Gold Coast.
